Austral Estwick

Austral is one of the founding members of the Gospel group Promise and was the guitarist and leader of the group for about eight years. He has also worked as the group’s studio and live sound engineer.

During his time with Promise as guitarist he has had the opportunity to work in some of the major studios in the island at that time, such as Blue Wave owned by Eddie Grant, Paradise Alley, the Merry Men Studio at Searles and Maxi Music Studio. It was in this capacity that he was exposed to the demands of recording music in a studio environment both from the musician’s perspective and the Recording Engineer.

He is a Director of Quality Sound Inc. a music production company involved in Live Sound Reinforcement and recording. As a Director his primary responsibilities are the design and configuration of sound systems, and the application of new technology.  He also assists in quality control and customer relations. With this portfolio he negotiates complex artiste riders to ensure that equipment requirements are met way ahead of performance dates. These artistes are both gospel and secular performing all genres of music.

Austral has toured extensively throughout the Caribbean basin both as a musician and a sound technician advising on major regional productions. He has also worked with A&B Music Supplies a major sound company on the island before his association with Quality Sound Inc.

Austral holds a B Sc. in Computer Science and Physics and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Leicester in IT PROJECT MANAGEMENT. He also holds the Information Technology Industry certification of IT MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP SPECIALIST.

He currently works at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIST.
